The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) says a training aircraft veered off the runway at the General Tunde Idiagbon International Airport, Ilorin, Kwara state.
In a statement on Saturday, Obiageli Orah, FAAN’s director of public affairs and consumer protection, said the aircraft, a Diamond DA42 with registration number 5N-BNI, was used for training with two passengers on board when it veered off the “Runway 05 at 18.31hrs local time”
“The aircraft landed but veered off the Runway and eventually came to a stop on the grass area,” FAAN said.
“The two occupants of the aircraft were evacuated to a medical facility. They are both stable and responding to treatment.”

The agency said the Nigeria Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has completed preliminary assessments, and the disabled aircraft has been recovered to the International Aviation College premises.
FAAN added that operations in and out of General Tunde Idiagbon International are back to normal.
In 2023, the federal government named 15 airports across the country after some prominent Nigerians, including former President Muhammadu Buhari and the late Tunde Idiagbon.
