Two killed, 14 injured in Lagos auto crash

Two persons have been reported dead, and another 14 injured in an auto crash that occurred in the Anthony area of Lagos.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said it got a distress call at 3:05 pm, and deployed its Emergency Response Team (ERT).

The two corpses were reportedly moved by the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit (SEHMU) to the Lagos mainland hospital mortuary.

The 14 persons who sustained different degrees of injuries were rescued aken to the Gbagada General Hospital and trauma centre by LASAMBUS and the LASEMA paramedics.

“Preliminary investigation conducted by the ERT at the scene of the accident purportedly revealed that a Volsk Wagon commercial bus with registration number GGE716XM had a head on collision with another vehicle (MazdaTaxi),” read a statement by the agency.

“The damaged vehicles were subsequently recovered with the aid of the agency’s towing truck to avoid another incident and to ensure free flow of traffic in the area.”

Adesina Tiamiyu, general manager, LASEMA, advised motorists,  especially commercial bus drivers, to pay full attention while driving.

Tiamiyu also urged drivers to ensure they drive within the speed limit to avoid loss of lives to reckless driving.
