‘Two killed’ as bandits attack Kaduna mosque during Juma’at prayer

Two people were reportedly killed on Friday during Juma’at prayers at Anguwar Makera, Kwasakwasa community of Birnin Gwari LGA, Kaduna state.

Some worshippers were also said to have been abducted during the attack by bandits.

A resident of the community said the bandits attacked the mosque around 2pm during the second raka’a of prayer.

“The attack took place about 2pm during Juma’at prayers at Anguwar Makera Mosque. They opened fire on the worshippers,” he said.

“Two people were killed while some were abducted. The victims have been buried at Old Kuyello cemetery.”

The resident said bandits invaded the community a few days ago, and abducted nine people in the neighbouring Angwar Kanawa community.

He said residents of many communities in Birnin Gwari LGA are living in fear and appealed to the authorities to address the security challenges in the state.

When contacted over the incident, Mansir Hassan, spokesperson of the Kaduna police command, failed to respond.

The attack comes a day after 287 schoolchildren and their teachers were abducted from their school in Chikun LGA.
