Amos Daniel, a member of the house of representatives, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Tajudeen Abbas, speaker of the house, announced Daniel’s defection in a letter read on the floor of the lower legislative chamber on Wednesday.

Daniel represents Jemaa/Sanga federal constituency of Kaduna state.

He attributed his defection to the leadership crisis in the PDP.

Daniel’s defection further depletes the number of PDP members in the national assembly.

The opposition party has been grappling with internal wrangling, which has resulted in members defecting to the APC in droves.

Similarly, Sagiri Koki, a lawmaker representing Kano municipal federal constituency, has quit the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

His resignation is contained in a letter dated November 11 and addressed to the chairman of Zaitawa ward, Kano state.

“My decision to exit the NNPP becomes necessary because the internal crisis in the party leadership at the centre has made it difficult, if not impossible, for me to continue discharging my duties and provide my people, the good people of Kano Municipal, with the desired representation in the house of representatives,” he wrote.

Koki’s defection is yet to be announced on the floor of the lower legislative chamber.
