Two shot dead in Kano

Gunmen on Monday raided Bagwai town in Bagwai local government area of Kano state, killing two persons.

Abdullahi Haruna, spokesman of the state police command, confirmed the incident.

The gunmen were said to have arrived the area around 10:30pm, attacking some shops.

“Gunmen attacked some shops and shot three persons two of whom died after they were rushed to Bichi General Hospital,” Haruna said.

“The gunmen shot sporadically with bullets hitting three persons. Two of them later died at Bichi General Hospital.

“The remaining one is still receiving medical attention at the hospital.”

He said Habu Ahmad-Sani, the state commissioner of police, had ordered deployment of personnel from the “Operation Puff-adder” team to investigate and arrest the perpetrators of the act.

The deceased were identified as the son of one Balaraba Sani, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart in the area and one-time zonal woman leader of the party in Kano North, and one Muhammad, a 35-year-old staff of the health department, Bagwai local government council.
