US donates tactical equipment to NDLEA

The United States has donated seven vehicles and 83 tactical equipment to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

According to a statement from the US consulate, the vehicles and equipment were funded through the US Africa Command (AFRICOM) counter-narcotics and transnational threats program (CTTP).

The donations include three Honda Accord vehicles, three Toyota Hilux trucks, a Toyota Hiace Van, a smith detection body scan unit, laptop computers, i2 analyst notebook software, digital cameras, electric bill counters, and battery power supply backup devices.

At the handover ceremony which held in Lagos, John Bray, US consul general said the country will provide continuous support to the NDLEA, especially in the area of drug trafficking.

“We are pleased to support the NDLEA in its efforts to fight drug trafficking,” he said.

“We share the same objective of ridding our societies of the harmful effects of narcotics trafficking and illicit drug use”.

The donations, which were received by Linus Opara, director of training and manpower development, NDLEA, are not the first made by the US government.

In May 2016, 11 pick-up trucks and transport vans were donated to the NDLEA.
