Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna, has flagged off the construction of the 15-kilometre Keke–Danbushiya road in Chikun LGA of the state.
The construction of the road, which links more than 15 communities in the Millennium City axis, has reportedly been a demand of residents for about five decades.
Muktar Haruna, village head of Danbushiya, said successive administrations in the state made promises to construct the road but never delivered.
He commended Sani for fulfilling what he described as a long-awaited dream.

Haruna also listed other government interventions in the community, including a primary healthcare centre, schools, enhanced security, and a newly completed science secondary school.
“We are grateful for the governor’s love for our people. In fact, we want the name of this place to be changed from Millennium City to Governor Uba Sani Millennium City,” he said.
Speaking during an inspection tour of the project on Wednesday, Sani said his administration is committed to ensuring even distribution of development across the state.

He promised to deliver the project within nine months.
“When we came on board, we made it clear that we would take development to every part of Kaduna,” the governor said.
“I met with the people of Danbushiya, sat down with them and realised that this is a very important road linking about 15 communities.
“We found it necessary to put in significant resources to ensure the construction of a standard asphaltic road.”

The governor also inspected the ongoing renovation of Ahmadu Bello Stadium, which he said will be upgraded into a modern sports arena that meets international standards, as well as the refurbishment of a primary healthcare centre at Mando in Igabi LGA.
