Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna, says the state will not become a haven for criminals, warning that those who threaten the lives and livelihoods of citizens will face the full weight of the law.
Sani, who spoke through Hadiza Balarabe, the deputy governor, at the launch of a special task force on community policing and drug control, emphasised the state government’s resolve to prevent Kaduna from becoming a haven for criminals.
“As our security agencies make strides in rural areas, we are now seeing a shift of violence to our urban centres, which we must not allow to take root,” he said.
The governor said the task force is expected to combat urban terrorism, drug trafficking, and other forms of violent crime, ensuring the safety of streets, neighbourhoods, and homes across Kaduna.

He warned the task force members against corruption, stressing the importance of their “sacred duty” to serve with dedication and commitment.
Sani also called on members of the public to play an active role in security efforts by reporting drug hideouts, phone snatching syndicates, and dealers in stolen goods.
“Our communities must reject a culture of silence. If you see something, say something,” he said.

“Security is a collective responsibility, and peace is a shared treasure.”
The governor said the task force is tasked with carrying out its duties with honour, diligence, and a deep sense of responsibility to the people of Kaduna.
