Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna, has implored Nigerians to work together to overcome the country’s challenges and harness its full potential.

In his message to commemorate Nigeria’s 65th independence anniversary, Sani said the nation has survived turbulent times because of the resilience and unity of its people.

“This anniversary is both a celebration and a call to reflection, a celebration of our collective resilience, and a moment to honour the sacrifices and vision of our founding fathers,” he said.

“On this historic day, I extend a sincere call to all of us: let us work together, across our communities, faiths, and backgrounds, to confront our challenges and unlock our collective potential.

“It is in unity that we will continue to give life to the dream of a peaceful, just, and prosperous Nigeria.”

The governor highlighted some of his administration’s milestones, including road projects covering 785 kilometres across the state, reopening of rural markets, and reclaiming over 500,000 hectares of abandoned farmland.

He said more than 10,000 out-of-school children have been returned to classrooms, while 535 schools previously shut due to insecurity have reopened.

In healthcare, he said 255 primary health centres have been upgraded.

Sani also said over 10 percent of the state’s 2025 budget was allocated to agriculture — the highest in recent years — to strengthen food security and empower smallholder farmers.

“Justice, equity, and inclusion are the cornerstones of our governance approach. We are building a Kaduna where policy is driven by fairness, leadership is guided by empathy, and every community, no matter how remote, has a voice in shaping our shared future,” he added.

“Nigeria’s future remains bright, and Kaduna’s role in that future is significant. With God’s guidance and our collective resolve, we will overcome our challenges and realise the full potential of our state and country.”

According to him, peace and inclusion remain central to his government’s agenda.

Sani reaffirmed Kaduna’s support for President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and urged citizens to continue to play their role in nation building.
