Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna state, has presented staff of office to Ishaku Tagwai Sambo as the 15th chief of Moro’a and a first class traditional ruler in Kaduna state.
Sambo was appointed in December 2024 following the death of the former chief, Tagwai Sambo.
He was the Madakin Moro’a before his appointment as chief of Moro’a.
At a ceremony held in Manchok on Saturday, the governor described Sambo’s appointment as both a privilege and a responsibility, urging the new chief to “lead with courage, govern with compassion, and uphold the values of justice, fairness, and service”.

“Your appointment is more than a title – it is a trust, a testament, and a task. It is a trust handed to you by your people and sanctioned by the laws of kaduna state,” Sani said.
“You are succeeding a colossus, the late Chief Tagwai Sambo, your father, who reigned for 58 remarkable years, a leader renowned for peace, patience and purpose.”
While commending the new monarch’s character and record of service, Sani urged the people of Moro’a chiefdom to rally behind Sambo with loyalty, unity and cooperation.

“Let peace be your pledge. Let progress be your pursuit. Let unity be your umbrella,” he added.
Sani also reaffirmed his government’s commitment to strengthening the traditional institution, noting its vital role in governance, security and grassroots mobilisation.
“Our royal fathers are partners in policy, protectors of peace and promoters of progress. They are our first line of intelligence in tackling insecurity, our moral compass in promoting discipline, and our grassroots mobilisers for health, education and development,” he said.
According to the governor, the state is investing in the capacity of traditional institutions and integrating them into broader efforts to ensure security and development.
