Uba Sani visits families of Plateau attack victims, commends community for not retaliating

Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna state, has called on other states to ensure the freedom of movement of all Nigerian citizens as enshrined in the constitution.

Sani spoke on Tuesday at Kudan LGA of Kaduna  commiserate with families of the 12 travellers who were murdered at Mangu on their way to a wedding.

On Friday, 12 people were killed after a mob set ablaze a bus packed with wedding guests who were travelling from Zaria, Kaduna, to Quan Pan LGA in Plateau for the ceremony.

The wedding guests reportedly lost their way before they were ambushed by a mob in Mangun.

Sani said when the incident happened, he sent a delegation of commissioners led by AbdulKadir Muázu Meyere, the secretary to Kaduna state government, to condole families of the deceased.

He said one of the most important responsibilities of any government is protecting the lives and property of its citizens, regardless of who they are and where they come from.

“Whether you are from Kaduna State or elsewhere, so long as you live in Kaduna State, we have the responsibility to protect your life and property and to ensure that you live in peace”, he said.

The governor commended the people of Kudan for not taking laws into their hands to avenge the killing of their kins.

He added that he visited the 44 Military Hospital, Kaduna, on Monday to meet those who survived the attack but were injured.

“I’m also happy that the Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN) chairman of this local government, also made a remark here, that all the Christians in this community are living in peace with the Muslim Ummah,” he said.

“This is a clear testament that in Kaduna State, everyone lives in peace irrespective of religious or ethnic affiliations. We are a highly diverse state, but we try as much as possible to remain at peace.

“Kaduna State has not experienced a single ethno-religious crisis in the last two years since we came in, because of our political will to ensure peace.”

The Governor also promised to tar the road from Kudan to Basawa in Sabon Gari local government, in addition to building a hospital for the local government “because they are very peaceful community”.

Speaking earlier, Dauda Iliya Abba, chairman of Kudan LGA, said that the people are happy because the governor showed concern and has been mourning with the people since the unfortunate killing took place last Friday.
