Uche Ekwunife, former senator and deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra, has congratulated Chukwuma Soludo on his re-election as governor.
Soludo defeated APC’s Nicholas Ukachukwu by over 300,000 votes to win the Anambra governorship election held on Saturday.
In a statement on Monday, Ekwunife expressed appreciation to her supporters for their commitment throughout the campaign.
She said their “voices, strength, time, and prayers” formed the foundation of the work done during the election.

Ekwunife, who is also the director-general of the South-East Governors’ Forum, expressed satisfaction with the efforts she and Ukachukwu put into the contest.
She described the support they received from voters as “a victory of faith, unity and hope, a victory that no ballot can erase”.
Ekwunife thanked young people who, according to her, mobilised across communities and women who she said prayed “through the nights”.

She said their sacrifices showed that politics could be driven by “people and purpose” and urged her supporters to prioritise peace and unity in the interest of the state.
She congratulated Soludo and wished him success in his second term.
“When Anambra succeeds, we all succeed,” she said.
She appealed to stakeholders across political lines to work together to build a more prosperous state.
