Roony Bardghji was the hero of the night as Copenhagen came from two goals down to defeat ten-man Manchester United 4-3 in their UEFA Champions League (UCL) encounter at the Parken Stadium on Wednesday night.

The 17-year-old substitute provided the dramatic finish in the seven-goal thriller as Denmark’s Copenhagen won their first UCL match at the 10th attempt.

The win also ended a run of five home UCL matches without victory for Copenhagen, while Man United have now failed to win both away matches in this season’s competition.

The Red Devils raced into a two-goal lead within 30 minutes of the first half through homeboy Rasmus Hojlund who converted Scott McTominay’s pass for the first on three minutes before scoring from a rebound to double the visitors’ advantage.

Marcus Rashford was shown a straight red card for a dangerous tackle and his dismissal proved a turning point in the match as the home side cancelled the lead with two quickfire goals.

Mohamed Elyounoussi dispatched Diogo Gonçalves’ cutback before the latter slotted in a penalty kick following a Harry Maguire handball.

Man United were also awarded a penalty in the second half for handball and Fernandes stepped up to dispatch his kick to put the visitors back in the lead but Copenhagen roared back with two late goals to snatch victory.

Lukas Lerager equalized at the back post before youngster Bardghji’s strike won it for The Lions.

Manchester United are bottom of Group A with three points from four matches, with Copenhagen moving up to second with four points and ahead of Galatasaray on goals difference.

In other matches, Real Madrid advanced to the UCL knockout stage for the 26th consecutive season following a 3-0 win over SC Braga, while Arsenal took down Sevilla via goals from Leandro Trossard and Bukayo Saka.

Napoli, without injured Super Eagles of Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen, were held to a 1-1 draw by lowly Union Berlin, while Sadiq Umar was an unused substitute for Real Sociedad in the Spanish club’s 3-1 win over Benfica.
