Manchester City scored two late goals to secure a hard-fought 2-1 comeback victory over Borussia Dortmund in their UEFA Champions League (UCL) encounter at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.

John Stones cancelled Jude Bellingham’s opener before Erling Haaland volleyed in to win it for Man City against his former club.

The host toiled in the first half and went behind 11 minutes into the second half, as Bellingham found the net with a glancing header for the lead.

A flurry of substitutions followed but Pep Guardiola’s side had to wait until the 80th minute to level the scores, with Stones, the unlikely scorer, before Haaland punished the club from which he made a high-profile transfer to City.

The 22-year-old showed great athleticism to meet Joao Cancelo’s cross with an acrobatic volley to snatch the win.

The English Premier League champions have maximum points from two matches so far in the group stage.

Elsewhere, Real Madrid slept through the first half at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium before bursting to life in the second with goals from Federico Valverde and Marco Asensio to secure a 2-0 win over RB Leipzig.

Chelsea were held 1-1 by RB Salzburg, courtesy of a late equalizer in Graham Potter’s first game in charge as manager.

Juventus remain pointless following a 2-1 loss at home to Benfica while Rangers also imploded at home, suffering a 3-0 loss to Napoli.

  • AC Milan 3-1 Dinamo Zagreb
  • Rangers 0-3 Napoli
  • Chelsea 1-1 RB Salzburg
  • Real Madrid 2-0 RB Leipzig
  • FC Copenhagen 0-0 Sevilla
  • Manchester City 2-1 Borussia Dortmund
  • Juventus 1-2 Benfica
  • Maccabi Haifa 1-3 Paris Saint-Germain
