Liverpool came from a goal down to beat AC Milan 2-1 in their UEFA Champion League (UCL) encounter at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday night.
The Reds scored through Mohamed Salah and Divock Origi to ensure a sixth consecutive group stage victory in the UCL, a record for an English club.
Fikayo Tomori gave AC Milan the lead on 29 minutes. Salah then equalized seven minutes later, as he converted a rebound for his 20th goal of the season in all competition.
Origi would score the match-winning goal in a similar circumstance ten minutes into the second half to secure another deserved victory in Europe.
Jurgen Klopp’s men finish top of group B with the maximum 18 points from six matches.
In other matches, Ajax Amsterdam also completed the group stage without dropping a point following a 4-2 win over Sporting Lisbon in Amsterdam.
In Spain, Real Madrid defeated Inter Milan 2-0, winning the battle to secure top spot ahead of the Italian champions.
Atletico Madrid, helped by Liverpool’s win in Italy, came from bottom of the table in group B to snatch second spot following a 3-1 win at FC Porto in Portugal.
All goals were scored in the second half as both sides also finished the feisty and incident-filled encounter with ten men.
Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe scored braces as PSG eased past Club Brugge 4-1 in Paris while Manchester City lost 2-1 to RB Leipzig in Germany.
