UCL: Salah gets hat-trick in Liverpool 7-1 demolition of Rangers as Barca, Inter share points

Liverpool scored four second-half goals to brush aside Glasgow Rangers 7-1 in their UEFA Champions League (UCL) group match at Hampden Park in Scotland on Wednesday.

The Anfield giants found their winning touch in Europe with the much-maligned Mohamed Salah in particular showing flashes of his old self with a hat-trick.

Rangers scored first before Roberto Firmino’s brace completed the comeback. Darwin Nunez increased the scoreline before Salah stole the show late on with a six-minute hattrick.

Liverpool sit second in the group on nine points, three points behind Napoli who defeated Ajax Amsterdam 4-2 at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in Naples.

The free-scoring Italian league leaders ensured qualification into the knockout phase with two goals in each half, with Victor Osimhen, Super Eagles striker, tapping into an empty net to seal the win in 89 minutes.

Elsewhere, Robert Lewandowski scored twice but could not give Barcelona the much-needed win in a 3-3 draw with Inter Milan at Camp Nou.

Nicolo Barella, Lautaro Martinez, and Robin Gosens cancelled out Lewandowski’s brace and Ousmane Dembele’s opener to put the Catalans on the cusp of UCL elimination.
