Udom Emmanuel, governor of Akwa Ibom state, has empowered many communities in Akwa Ibom.

Emmanuel made cash donations for the development of projects across the five clans that comprise Ikot Abasi local government, the host community of Ibom Power Plant.

The governor made the donation in support of the corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities carried out by the state-owned Ibom Power Company.

Etido Inyang, chairman of Ibom Power board of directors, who presented the cheques to representatives of the community on behalf of the governor, reiterated the commitment of Emmanuel to the development of Ikot Abasi.

“Ikot Abasi is an industrial hub for the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel. It is not a coincidence that the power plant is at Ikot Abasi, the reason being that without power, there is no industrialization,” he said.

Inyang, an engineer, said the N5million donated by the governor for development projects in each of the six communities is a demonstration of the governor’s commitment to development in Ikot Abasi.

Udo NtukObom, paramount ruler of Ikot Abasi and clan head of  Ukpum Okon, appreciated Emmanuel for the gesture.
