Umar Bago, governor of Niger state, has dissolved his cabinet.

In a statement on Monday, Bologi Ibrahim, the governor’s chief press secretary, said Bago announced the decision during the state executive council meeting at the council chamber in Minna.

No reasons were given for the dissolution.

Ibrahim said the governor, however, retained his secretary to the state government (SSG), chief of staff, deputy chief of staff, and other principal officers in his office.

This is not the first time the governor will make a similar decision.

In July 2023, Bago terminated the appointments of all political officeholders appointed before May 29, 2023.

He had also dissolved all statutory commissions, boards, and parastatals in the state.
