Elum, Yelful, Umar in contention for VAT wonder goal award
Wikki Tourists’ Abubakar Umar, Anthony Yelful of El-Kanemi Warriors and Rivers United forward Sochima Elum have made the shortlist for the VAT wonder goal award.
Umar’s matchday 17 goal for Wikki in the away fixture against Sunshine Stars earned him the nomination.
Anthony Yelful scored two goals as Heartland sunk to the bottom of the table after a 3-0 routing by El-Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri.
The final nominee Sochima Elum scored the only goal of the game — after 10 seconds of the opening whistle — as Rivers United beat Nasarawa United.
Voting for the goal of the week in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) opens on Monday, April 21 and ends on Wednesday, April 25.
Emeka Ogbugh of Rivers United and Sikiru Alimi of Sunshine Stars are the recent winners of the N150,000 prize money.
The VAT Wonder Goal Award is an initiative of the League Management Company (LMC) supported by the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS).
