The KB Klub, a student organisation at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos (UNILAG), has organised a blood donation drive across six local government areas (LGAs) in the state.
The campaign, themed ‘Your Power to Gift Life 2.0’, was held in partnership with the Oba Saheed Elegushi Foundation on Friday.
According to the organisers, the initiative raised over 500 pints of blood and reached more than one million people through community engagement and publicity walks.
The drive took place in Eti-Osa (Monarch Event Centre), Lagos Island (Tinubu Square), Surulere (Teslim Balogun Stadium), Lagos Mainland (UNILAG Indoor Sports Centre), Ikeja (Jara Mall), and Ikorodu (Ikorodu General Hospital).

Sheriffdeen Oloyede, general secretary of KB Klub and project lead, said the campaign was designed to promote a culture of voluntary blood donation in Lagos.
“This is not just an event, it’s a movement that will continue to shape the future of blood donation in Lagos and beyond,” he said.
The flagship event in Eti-Osa was flagged off by Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, the Elegushi of Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom.

Other guests in attendance included Bodunrin Osikomaiya, executive secretary of the Lagos State Blood Transfusion Service (LSBTS); Sarah Balogun, senior special assistant to the governor’s adviser on health; and Folasade Popoola, chief executive officer (CEO) of Next Hematology.
Ayobami Olomiyete, president of KB Klub, said the initiative builds on the success of the group’s first blood drive in 2023, which recorded 402 pints in seven hours.
The organisers also attributed the success of this year’s campaign to coordinated advocacy and partnerships.
