The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) Centre for Clinical Trials (UNNCECT) has appointed Laz Eze, a public health management expert, as senior advisor, strategy and research communications.

A statement by the centre said Eze was appointed as part of its plan to recruit “experts to lay a solid foundation” for the centre.

Eze is the executive director of the Pink Oak Cancer Trust, Nigeria’s first cancer treatment fund.

“Dr. Eze was invited to support the centre in recognition of his passion for health and outstanding technical skills in health communications and growing start-up health institutions,” the statement read.

“UNNCECT is the first of its kind in West Africa and the second in Sub-Saharan Africa.

“Clinical trials can be of huge benefits to patients with chronic diseases and medical researchers as it provides knowledge and evidence to improve the effectiveness of drugs and medications.”
