In a trending video, the registrar, visibly in tears, took responsibility for the errors and apologised for the trauma caused to affected candidates.
Many Nigerians on X reacted to the development –some welcomed the apology, while others called for the registrar’s resignation.

Shame on him. Few days ago he was boasting of his “anti-cheating technology” 😂 and accusing the affected candidates of underperformance, today He’s crying and confessing.
He should resign with immediate effect.

The JAMB Registrar broke down in tears while apologising to Nigerians. One would have expected a resignation too—after all, a young life has already been lost over this.
Going forward, we must scrutinise anyone who wears this cap before entrusting them with public responsibility. https://t.co/cOUIr2iZe3— Maazi Ezeoke (Onyenjenje) (@MaaziEzeoke) May 14, 2025

I think his apology would have been more profound and commendable had he reacted proactively – proposing the resit- before releasing the results rather than this reactive reaction!

He doesn’t understand the position he currently occupied and caused pains in many Nigerian families that wrote the exams. He should be sack immediately for gross negligence.

It takes extreme guts to admit to errors like this. There will be serious consequences for this man and his team. But it has to be said he has done the right thing to begin to remedy the situation

While I strongly blame the institutions for this kind of negligence, alot of student’s time would have been wasted of not for public scrutiny. I must commend the Registrar’s boldness to admit to error. Our system and institutions needs healing

A youngster committed suicide allegedly over the released JAMB result. Several others are traumatised. This is CBT, for goodness sake, so where did the error come from. Poor leadership and lack of process is the problem of Nigeria and Africa. Let us see the punishment for this.
