Hope Uzodimma, governor of Imo, says a suspect linked to the killing of Chris Ohizu, former chairman of Ideato North LGA, has been arrested.
Ohizu was abducted and gruesomely murdered in January 2023 while serving as the council boss.
In a statement issued on Sunday by Oguwike Nwachukwu, his chief press secretary (CPS), Uzodinma said the suspect confessed to being part of the attack and has also named others allegedly involved in the crime.
“The governor has commended security agencies for intensifying efforts to unravel the full network behind the murder,” the statement reads.

Nwachukwu quoted the governor as saying that the state government would ensure all those found culpable are brought to justice without delay.
Ohizu’s killing sparked outrage after a video surfaced showing the assailants mocking the state government and threatening to target more public officials, including the governor.
The attackers reportedly rejected ransom offers before killing Ohizu, forcing him to recite a prayer before he was murdered on camera.
