Uzodimma to ‘evangelise’ APC achievements as renewed hope ambassador

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Hope Uzodimma, Imo state governor, as the renewed hope ambassador ahead of the national rollout of the federal government’s ward development programme.

Bayo Onanuga, special adviser on information and strategy to the president, announced the appointment in a statement on Tuesday.

He said the appointment takes immediate effect, adding that Uzodimma will also serve as director-general for party outreach, engagement and mobilisation.

The Imo governor will work closely with the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and fellow governors to “evangelise the Tinubu administration’s programme” and drive a unified communication strategy across the party.

The statement said Uzodimma will also be tasked with ensuring “harmony, inclusiveness and strategic coordination across all levels of the party, while leading efforts to mobilise and engage citizens at the grassroots.

The statement added that APC governors will also serve as ambassadors of hope, complementing Uzodimma’s outreach role.

“President Tinubu expects Governor Uzodimma and his colleagues to promote and disseminate the party’s achievements and milestones since 2023, thereby reinforcing the message of Renewed Hope nationwide,” the statement reads.

“President Tinubu took office in May 2023 with a reform agenda that is already yielding positive outcomes for the Nigerian economy.”

The statement highlighted recent economic indicators, stating that inflation had eased for the seventh consecutive month to 16.05 percent in October, while the exchange rate has stabilised.

Onanuga noted foreign reserves had risen to over $46 billion, up from the $32 billion and a net reserve of $4 billion, inherited in 2023.

He said investor confidence has rebounded, with rising foreign direct and portfolio investments.

“The stock market is enjoying an unprecedented boom. The economy is being diversified, with solid minerals playing a pivotal role. The government’s liberal educational loan policy has enrolled over 700,000 students. Nigerians do not need to wait longer than one week to get a travel passport,” the statement reads.

Tinubu asked Uzodimma to ensure that Nigerians are aware of and understand the administration’s achievements.
