In the wake of his team’s success at the just concluded 2015 Confederation Cup, Akwa United coach, Zakary Baraje, has threatened to dump the club should the management fail to buy new players ahead of next season’s Glo Premier League.

Baraje made the statement during a press interview shortly after the presentation of trophy to the team at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos after defeating Lobi Stars of Makurdi 2-1 to clinch the FA Cup title adding that he managed a team with less quality after the club’s management sold key players in last season’s transfer window.

“I am giving the management an ultimatum of buying quality players from the transfer window so as to build a better team ahead of next season, failure to do so will prompt my resignation,” he said.

“I cannot continue to coach a team where they sell key players and won’t buy new ones.”

The coach also noted that his players were tactically disciplined during the final game.

“My team played to instructions and that is a good feeling for me,” he said.

“We faced a lot of challenges during the competition and in the league as well but we were able to manage results but if the management failed to sign new players next season, I will have to go elsewhere.”
