Christopher Musa, chief of defence staff (CDS), says jihadists are hellbent on taking over the Sahel region.

Musa spoke last Sunday when he attended Conquerors Global Assembly in Abuja, the country’s capital.

The church was recently established by David Abioye, former vice-president of Living Faith Church, better known as Winners Chapel.

In his speech, Musa appealed to the congregants to love and pray for Nigeria “consistently and ceaselessly” amid the challenges in the Sahel region and West Africa.

The defence chief said Nigeria is a great country and that some persons are not happy that the country has not been “divided”.

He urged Christians never to be shy to profess their belief anywhere they find themselves.

“I want to appeal to all of us to love ourselves and country. We are going through challenges. It is not only in Nigeria,” Musa said.

“I want to assure you. That God almighty loves this country and He will never let the country go down.

“The Sahelian region and West Africa are facing unprecedented challenges by the jihadists and they are hellbent on taking over. God will never allow them to succeed. We need our prayers.

“As Christians we need to pray consistently and ceaselessly to ensure that this country remains one and the same.

“This is a blessed country. Everybody knows Nigeria is great. Some people are not happy that Nigeria is still standing.”
