Sarah Omakwu, senior pastor of the Family Worship Centre, knelt in the church as a mother to beg President Muhammadu Buhari to stop the killings in Plateau and across Nigeria.
Speaking at the black thanksgiving service of the Abuja-based Church on Sunday, the pastor said she could be killed at any time and nothing will happen, because the value of life in Nigeria has depreciated.
“We are mourning for a country that is being soaked in innocent blood, I walk around knowing that anything can happen to me, and if anything ever happens to me, nothing happens. You life can be snuffed out of you in a jiffy and nobody cares,” she said.
She said Nigerians have seen Buhari, with his powers as the president and the commander in chief of the armed forces, stop the Independent Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) and that he could stop the killings today, if he wants to.
The fiery pastor, who also spoke as a mother, said the President has not done anything to deliberately stop the killings in the northcentral and across the entire country.
“No Mr President, you have not tried enough, you have not done enough, in fact in our estimation, you have not done anything, you have not rejected this…. Sir, the last time I heard your voice was when you took the Oath,” Omakwu added.
“In the name of God, in the name of Allah, whom you serve, stop this mayhem, you can do it, it is in your power… may posterity not judge you as somebody who sat down and watch a whole nation collapse because you did not keep your word.”
During the service, the Church had a moment of silence for all those who lost their lives to the massacre and accident across the nation; prayed for the nation and sang the national anthem in solidarity.
