Sultan of Sokoto shakes President Tinubu
President Bola Tinubu on Friday received Muhammad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto, at the State House in Abuja.
Olusegun Dada, Tinubu’s special assistant on social media, said the meeting was part of the president’s wide consultations with religious and traditional leaders.
On Tuesday, the president met with Ignatius Kaigama, the Archbishop of Abuja, at the State House.
The president’s consultations with religious and traditional leaders come amid ongoing conversations over Christian genocide claims in Nigeria and the threat of military action by US President Donald Trump to “protect Christians” in the country.

Ahead of the meeting, Tinubu, in a statement, said the nation was facing challenges head-on but would remain steadfast in its commitment to engage partners and champion state interests on the diplomatic front.
“We are confidently asserting our presence on the global stage, guided by unwavering calm, clarity, and a strong sense of purpose,” he said.
“We are indeed faced with terrorism – a challenge Nigeria has faced for almost two decades, and we will not back down.

“We will decisively defeat terrorism and claim victory in this battle. Security is non-negotiable, and we will never compromise on this principle. With unwavering courage and a steadfast commitment to the rule of law, we will prevail.”
