Yahaya Bello, governor of Kogi and presidential hopeful, on Monday, rejected the decision by his colleagues on zoning the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket to the south.

In a video, Bello is seen walking out of a building, while Abdullahi Sule, Nasarawa governor, appears to be trying to calm him down, with Babagana Zulum, Borno governor, also coming out of the building shortly afterwards.

The video of the Kogi governor’s action surfaced shortly after the northern APC governors met with President Muhammadu Buhari on their decision to ask the APC to zone its presidential ticket to the south.

Speaking on why Bello was not at the meeting, Nasir el-Rufai, Kaduna governor, said the presidential hopeful was against the governors’ decision on zoning the presidential ticket to the south.

However, Abdullahi Adamu, national chairman of the APC, on Monday, announced that Senate President Ahmad Lawan is the party’s consensus candidate.

But members of the APC national working committee (NWC) have countered Adamu’s position.

According to Sulaiman Argungu, APC national organising secretary, the chairman’s position is not the decision of the NWC.
