We violated no law in buying N45m form for Buhari, says group
The Nigeria Consolidation Ambassador Network (NCAN), a group that bought expression of interest and nomination forms for President Muhammadu Buhari says, it did not violate any law.
Since it presented N45 million cheque to Adams Oshiomhole, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the group has been subjected to criticisms.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had said the gesture contradicts section 91 (9) of the electoral act which states: “No individual or other entity shall donate more than one million naira to any candidate.”
But speaking with reporters in Abuja on Friday, Sanusi Musa, national coordinator of the group, said NCAN would not be distracted.
Musa, who said the group took time to study the legal provisions, added that the extant laws being cited referred to contributions in support of a party’s candidate in an election and not an individual who would only become an aspirant after completing the screening exercise.
Musa said members of the group raised the monry from their hard earned resources.
