Visionscape Sanitation Solutions (VSS), the company contracted to handle waste management in Lagos state, has denied owing its staff salaries.

The denial is coming after a protest by community sanitation workers at the Lagos state government secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, on Monday.

The workers said they were owed salaries by the environmental firm and also accused the Lagos ministry of environment of failing to provide basic equipment and welfare needed to do their jobs.

Reacting in a statement issued by John Irvine, chief executive officer of VSS, the company said its staff’s salaries have never been compromised.

“Whilst we cannot ascertain the information that has been published, we can confirm that no Visionscape staff’s  salaries have ever been compromised in any way,” he said.

The company said all enquiries regarding community sanitation workers should be directed to the ministry of environment/public utility monitoring assurance unit (PUMAU).

Irvine added that the company continues to guarantee the complete safety and security of its employees with the highest levels of protection and equipment.

“We remain committed to working with all stakeholders as we carry out our respective roles and responsibilities and will continue to support the Cleaner Lagos Initiative,” he said.
