Loose tyres from a moving truck have killed a vulcaniser in Osun state.
The vulcaniser, identified as Bolaji, was reportedly knocked down in front of his workshop at Fakunle area of Osogbo on Saturday morning.
NAN reports that the head of the deceased was chopped off by the tyres.
A witness said the tyres bounced over his head and knocked down the deceased who was standing behind him.
He said the tyres later knocked down a woman who was selling food close to the vulcaniser and her daughter.
“I and my friend Murphy were gisting with the vulcaniser, where he was brushing his teeth with a chewing stick, before a woman that was travelling to Ore/Ondo called him for direction,” NAN quoted the witness as saying.
“It was while giving direction to the woman that the tyres flew off from the vehicle, knocked him down and killed him instantly.
“If he had not gone to attend to the woman, he would not have been hit by the tyres.”
NAN reports that the driver of the vehicle has been detained at Ataoja police station in Osogbo.
The victims have been taken to Osun State University Teaching Hospital where they are receiving treatment.
