WAFCON final: Abiodun only fresh face as Ajibade captains Super Falcons against Morocco

Super Falcons starting XI against Morocco in WAFCON final

The Super Falcons of Nigeria made just one adjustment to their starting lineup for the crucial Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final against hosts Morocco at the Olympic Stadium on Saturday night.

Head coach Justin Madugu has opted for Deborah Abiodun in midfield, replacing Jennifer Echegini, as the team looks to secure a historic tenth WAFCON title — dubbed “Mission X” by the squad.

Captain Rasheedat Ajibade will lead a familiar lineup, with the defensive unit of Osinachi Ohale, Ashleigh Plumptre, Oluwatosin Demehin, and Gloria Alozie aiming to maintain their impressive record of not conceding from open play throughout the tournament.

In attack, the trio of Chinwendu Ihezuo, Esther Okoronkwo, and Folashade Ijamilusi retains their spots, having earned the coaching staff’s trust with their performances.
