Babagana Wakil, chief of staff to Babagana Zulum, governor of Borno, is dead.

Isa Gusau, the governor’s spokesman, disclosed the death in a statement issued on Wednesday.

No further details were given on what led to his death.

According to Gusau, Wakil will be buried later in the evening according to Islamic rites.

“Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. Jana’iza of late chief of staff, Dr Babagana Wakil, is to hold 4pm today at his extended family residence in Shehuri North, Maiduguri,” the statement read.

“May Allah, Subhanahu Wa ta’ala, in His infinite mercy, forgive his shortcomings, admit him into aljanna and give his family the strength to bear our collective loss.”

Wakil was appointed chief of staff in June 2019.
