David Umahi, governor of Ebonyi state, has lamented the attack on Azuoffia Edda community in Abakaliki local government area of the state.

He condemned the incident, which led to loss of lives, vowing that no no longer will citizens be killed under his watch.

People from three communities in Obubra local government area of Cross River state were accused of being behind the latest attacks.

“Under my watch, no Ebonyi man will be slaughtered again. We will not allow that to happen. The essence of coming to leadership is to protect the lives of our people,” he said.

Dismissing the allegation that residents of Azuoffia-Edda bury their dead with human head, Umahi said security agencies would have found out if such was the case.

“The root cause of the crisis is very funny. We have security agencies in our state who are not indigenes of Ebonyi state and they know very well that we don’t bury people with human beings,” he said.

Umahi, in company with security chiefs in the state, including Titus Lamorde, commander of Abakaliki cantonment and Peter Kulawe, the commissioner of police.
