Christian Chukwu lifting the 1980 AFCON trophy -- Nigeria's first-ever continental trophy
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has released a documentary series highlighting the Super Eagles’ continental triumphs over the decades.
The series titled “Road to Morocco” is a reflective piece on the team’s history and an inspirational material for Nigeria’s pursuit of a fourth Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) crown.
The Super Eagles have won the AFCON trophy thrice. The first was in 1980, when the country hosted the competition, and the second took place in Tunisia in 1994, while the third triumph occurred in South Africa in 2013.
The first episode of the documentary series focused on the 1980 victory. Some key members of that triumphant Green Eagles side are featured, and they reminisced about the historic title.
