We are raising global role models, says Sam Adeyemi as Daystar celebrates 30th anniversary

Sam Adeyemi, senior pastor of Daystar Christian Centre, says the church’s 30th anniversary reflects God’s instruction to “raise role models”.

Speaking during a news conference to mark the 30th anniversary of Daystar on Thursday, Adeyemi said this mandate has shaped the global impact of the church over the past three decades.

Adeyemi recounted that the vision God gave Daystar when it was founded in 1995 was centred on building people who would reflect divine character and lead with integrity in every sphere of society.

“Thirty years ago, God gave us a vision that was bigger than anything we could imagine, to raise men and women who would reflect His character in every sphere of life,” he said.

“It was never about numbers but transformation. Today, we are grateful to see how that seed has grown into a global movement, touching lives, families, and nations.”

The senior pastor recalled that the church, which began on his dining table in his Lagos home, has grown into a global ministry reaching millions through worship services, leadership academies, humanitarian projects, and digital outreach.

He said that over the years, the church has become known for teaching excellence, compassion, and innovative ministry.

This, he said, has been shaping leaders in governance, business, education, and other sectors.

Nike Adeyemi, deputy senior pastor, said that the 30th anniversary is a celebration of grace and transformed lives.

“Our story is one of grace, grace that transforms ordinary people into extraordinary testimonies,” she said.

“Every changed life is proof that when we build people, God builds everything else.”

According to Daystar, the theme of the anniversary, ‘A Mosaic of Changed Lives’, reflects both gratitude for the past and a renewed commitment to the future.

Adeyemi noted that to commemorate the occasion, the church has launched a global storytelling campaign hashtagged #MyDaystarStory.

This campaign, he said, invites members and partners to share their accounts of transformation, healing, purpose, and restoration in Daystar over the last three decades.

The church said celebration services will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the Oregun centre, continuing on Sunday, November 16, across all Lagos centres and online for the global audience.

Adeyemi said the anniversary also serves as a recommissioning for the decades ahead.

“This 30th anniversary is not just about looking back; it is a call to look ahead, to keep raising role models who make Christ attractive in governance, business, education, and every sphere of life,” he said.

“The world needs people who lead with values and that remains our core mission.”

Nike expressed gratitude to members, volunteers, partners, and the media for their support over the years.

“This is your story too,” she said.

“Together, we will keep inspiring faith, hope, and positive change for generations to come.”
