Ismail Adewusi, postmaster-general and chief executive officer of the Nigerian Postal Services (NIPOST), says Nigeria has all it takes to maintain a world class postal service.

Adewusi said this after the conclusion of the council of administrations meeting of the Universal Postal Union held in Berne, Switzerland, on Friday.

Explaining that the Universal Postal Union offers veritable avenue for peer reviews, Adewusi said the meeting that ended on Friday was another eye-opener to the various strategies to make NIPOST live up to its expectations as a logistics organisation with great capacities.

“Most of the discussions here centre around the sustainability of the Universal Postal Union operations across member countries of 192 nations,” he said.

“Several task forces presented reports of their meetings and observations were taken by member states followed by observer members.

“The reports were adopted by the Council of Administrations (CA) for presentation to Congress coming up in August 2020 in Cote D’ Voire.

“Also, from the very highly professional papers that have been presented by experts in postal operations across the globe on such technical matters as Financial inclusion strategy, e-commerce, one is left with no doubt that we only need to get our acts together in order to make NIPOST an effective service delivery organisation.”
