Siminalayi Fubara
A group known as the Rivers Women Unite for Sim (RWUS) has called for the reinstatement of Siminalayi Fubara as governor of the state.
The women held a meeting in Port Harcourt, the state capital, where they called for “renewed hope, divine strength, and a deeper commitment to the healing and progress of Rivers state”.
On March 18, President Bola Tinubu suspended Fubara as governor of the state, following the declaration of a state of emergency.
Ibok-Ete Ibas was subsequently appointed sole administrator for Rivers.

Tinubu and Fubara recently held private meetings over the Rivers emergency rule.
The women reiterated their call for genuine reconciliation among the people of Rivers, while praying for healing, peace, and the rekindling of trust.
Ibiwari Iyama, one of the women, said the group wants a restoration of peace.

“We actually want God to do it in no time because He said a quick work will I do,” she said.
“And why we know that God has already done a quick work is that even for the short period Sir Siminalayi Fubara became governor, he actually touched lives, there was so much transformation in the state.”
Speaking in a similar vein, Chika Barine said the essence of the gathering is to seek the quick restoration of democratic structures in the state.
“We have come in prayers, and we have told God we want the speedy restoration of our dearly beloved Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara. We want the restoration of the glory of Rivers state, we came to say God thank you for what you have started,” she said.
