Tukur Buratai, chief of army staff, says he remains committed to the welfare of soldiers of the Nigerian army.

Buratai spoke on Monday while inaugurating the newly-constructed soldiers’ village accommodation of the 33 Artillery Brigade in Shadawanka barracks, Bauchi state.

The accommodation consists of 16 blocks with 10 flats to ease accommodation challenges of the officers and soldiers in the barracks.

Buratai described the accommodation, which is for both officers and soldiers and their families, as another milestone.

“We also want to make sure there is a befitting mess for our soldiers where they will not just go to eat and drink but to interact with one another. It will be a place for social interaction which will enhance the culture and tradition of the military where strict regimentation is practiced.”

Buratai presented each soldier and officer with a key to their apartment while urging them to ensure proper maintenance of the facilities.

He also urged them to collaborate with other sister security agencies for optimal discharge of their duties.
