Ahmadu Fintiri, governor of Adamawa, says his administration will procure more sophisticated gadgets to address insecurity in the state.

Fintiri spoke on Thursday at a one-day capacity-building workshop for security stakeholders in Yola, the state capital.

NAN reports that the workshop was organised by the Nigeria Maritime Administrative and Security Agencies (NIMASA).

Fintiri was recently declared the winner of the Adamawa supplementary governorship election after he defeated Aisha Binani of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with 430,861 votes.

The governor, represented by Senabi Crowther, his special adviser, said the administration had in the past three years recorded relative peace in the state.

He said the gadgets would be used to detect and track down criminals in the state.

Speaking at the workshop, Muhammad Suleiman, executive secretary, Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), said communal clashes are one of the security challenges in the state.

Suleiman said the activities of a group known as the Shila Boys have become a major security threat in the state.

He called on relevant stakeholders to ensure that adequate security is provided across all areas in the state.

“We are all stakeholders in ensuring that there is adequate security in our areas, this is everyone’s business because if there is no security, there will be no peace for development and progress,” he said.

Adamawa is one of the three north-east states — Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe — where insecurity has been a major challenge.
