Bello Matawalle, governor of Zamfara state, has promised to restore peace in Zamfara state.

Matawalle made the pledge while speaking during a state broadcast on Eid-el-Kabir.

The governor said security has remained a challenge, not only in Zamfara but throughout Nigeria.

“Despite our continued efforts to combat these powerful atrocities, we are gravely concerned about reports of attacks and kidnapping that we get from time to time,” he said.

“There is no component of administration that I have given so much thought and invested so much resources as the issue of security.”

He said his administration employed peace and dialogue with bandits terrorising the state which has resulted in the relative peace the state is enjoying.

He said he was aware of the presence of a few unrepentant bandits still operating in the state.

The governor said he had briefed President Muhammadu Buhari on many occasions, and that the president had ordered the deployment of more security personnel in the state.

“We shall round up these miscreants and restore peace to all parts all the state with your continued support and prayers,” he said.

Matawalle said his government is fulfilling its campaign promises despite dwindling resources and the security challenges in the state.

The governor appreciated the efforts of the security agencies working in the state, as well as the support, prayers and cooperation being extended to his government by the people.
