The All Progressives Congress (APC) says it is in the business of winning elections and souls to its party.

Bolaji Abdullahi, spokesman of the APC, said this on Thursday while reacting to a statement of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

On Wednesday, Dayo Adeyeye, spokesman of the PDP, alleged that there is an onslaught by the APC government to incarcerate 50 of its members before the end of the year.

Adeyeye said the arrests were meant to deceive Nigerians that the “failed anti-corruption war” is still on course.

But Abdullahi said described Adeyeye’s allegation as a ploy by the opposition party to pre-empt the cases their member have with anti-corruption agencies.

He said if anyone has an issue with the anti-graft agencies, they should settle it and not politicise it.

“I don’t know who is raising these allegations, you should ask the person to show you a list of the people – you see, it’s a time-worn strategy, you pre-empt,” Abdullahi said.

“Some couple of former governors are being invited by the EFCC for questioning on their financial conduct, one way to pre-empt all that is to say that there is a list, a way to muscle the opposition.

“Like I told some of your colleagues who called me yesterday to find out what the party’s reaction is, we are a political party, we don’t arrest people, so if anybody has issues with people who have the power of arresting or investigation, they should go and deal with it. They shouldn’t politicise it.

“Our business is that of winning election, we are political party and winning souls to the party. We don’t arrest people.”
