Adewole Adebayo, presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), says the party has no plan to enter into a coalition ahead of the 2023 elections.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja on Friday, Adebayo said although the SDP may be an “underdog” in the current political landscape, it will not form an alliance with any other political party.

“We’re underdogs but we will never enter alliance or merge with any other party in the current scheme of things,” he said.

He said the party has come a long way, having won a previous presidential election that was annulled in 1993.

The SDP, according to Adebayo, is the finest party to help Nigeria out of its current economic, political, and social problems.

He urged Nigerians to support the party in order to help the nation.

The SDP presidential candidate described the recurring ASUU strikes as “a showdown between ASUU and contractors in government,” adding that it has a negative impact on the future of the nation.

He claimed that the inability of the feuding parties to settle their differences was mostly due to bad governance and pervasive corruption.

Adebayo said if he is elected president, he would make sure the government has no business managing universities.
