Wife flees after ‘stabbing husband to death’ in Niger state

A woman identified as Aisha Aliyu has reportedly stabbed her husband to death in the Nasarawa village, Lapai LGA of Niger state.

Wasiu Abiodun, police spokesperson in the state, confirmed the development in a statement on Monday.

Abiodun said the incident occurred at about midnight on Monday.

He said the wife fled the location after killing her husband identified as Idris Ahmadu.

“Today 12/02/2024 at about 1200hrs, information was received that, in the early hours of today, one Idris Ahmadu of Nasarawa village, via Lapai was stabbed to death by his wife, Aisha Aliyu 19/20yrs of the same address,” the statement reads.

“Before the arrival of the police at the scene, the suspect had fled to an unknown destination, while effort is being intensified to arrest the fleeing suspect.”

The police spokesperson did not state the reason behind the woman’s action but said the case is currently under investigation.
