Wike constitutes vetting teams to fast-track land regularisation in FCT

The federal capital territory administration (FCTA) has set up vetting teams to accelerate the process of land allocation regularisation in the six area councils of Abuja.

During the inauguration of the teams, Chijioke Nwankwoeze, director of land administration in the FCT, said the move is part of the renewed efforts by the Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory to sanitise land management and restore public confidence in the system.

Nwankwoeze noted that the constitution of the vetting teams comes with clear directives and timelines, reflecting the minister’s commitment to resolving long-standing challenges in the issuance of titles, particularly for subscribers of the mass housing programme.

“With this approach, all subscribers of unit houses in the Mass Housing Programmes will be captured and given titles for their individual housing units,” he said.

He added that the government is determined to address all lingering issues around plot allocations in area councils and ensure that delivered housing units are properly titled.

According to the director, the minister’s political will is evident in the “bold and irreversible” step to restore sanity to Abuja’s land administration and end the bottlenecks that have plagued the system for years.

“The constitution of these vetting teams is aimed at restoring public trust and confidence in land administration. We call for the understanding and cooperation of developers and prospective titleholders,” he said.
