Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers state, has sacked Theophilus Ndagene, the commissioner for health.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by Simeon Nwakaudu, senior special assistant to the governor on media.

The statement said Wike wished Ndagene luck in his future endeavor.

No reason was given for the sack.

This is not the first time that Wike would take disciplinary action against a member of his cabinet.

In May, he sacked Kelvin Wachuku, his commissioner for works, threatening to disengage members of his cabinet who are not active.

He accused Wachuku of living below expectation, and advised members of his team to increase their speed.

“I have a covenant with the people of Rivers state to develop this state. And anybody who is going to work with me must work at my speed and not at your own speed,” he had said.

“Nobody should come and drag me back like the former commissioner. Wachukwu is intelligent, but he could not meet up with the pace of work at the ministry.”

Five months later, he suspended four commissioners, head of service and his special adviser on lands.
