Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), says the administration will provide infrastructure in Wassa district to enable the relocation of Apo mechanic village traders.
Speaking on Friday during the inauguration of a relocation committee, Wike said previous administrations had failed to move the Apo mechanic village to the Wassa permanent site despite repeated promises since 2011.
He said President Bola Tinubu is committed to breaking the cycle of unfulfilled promises, stating that the administration has already begun the relocation process.
“It’s been promise on promise since 2011 without fulfilment, but Tinubu has promised, and the process has begun,” Wike said.

The minister said he would lead a joint visit to the Wassa site on June 27 alongside leaders of the mechanic village to inspect the land and identify infrastructure needs.
“This will enable us to decide on the needed critical infrastructure to be put in place to facilitate your relocation,” he added.
“This collective effort is to ensure that Tinubu’s promise is fulfilled.”

Members of the newly formed committee include the coordinator of the Abuja metropolitan management council and directors of development control, urban and regional planning, land, survey, and resettlement and compensation.
Wike also urged the traders to avoid internal conflicts and assured them of the administration’s commitment to making them happy.
