A Thai witch doctor has been sentenced to 22 years and 8 months in jail for fraud and sexual assault, a according to a report.

Thanawat Asawaponsuwan, known locally as Dr Karawek, was sentenced by the Bangkok criminal court for deceiving eight women into having sex with him.

According to the report, Thanawat advertised on local websites that he has “black magic powers” and could create love potions that will entice the opposite sex.

The eight victims had approached Thanawat for his services only to be told that they must perform sexual acts with him as compensation.

The court also found the defendant guilty of fraud after he could not prove in court that he possessed any supernatural powers.
