Wolves pip MK Etancheite in Warri

Warri Wolves defeated FC MK Etancheite of DR Congo 2-1 in their CAF Confederation Cup first leg match played in Warri on Saturday.

A goal in each half from Gbolahan Salami handed the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side a slim advantage ahead of the second leg in DRC.

Wolves went on the offensive at the blast of the whistle and were rewarded with a goal barely six minute into the game.

Super Eagles player Salami put smile on the faces of the home fans with a well-taken strike.

After the goal, the tempo of the game slowed down with both sides resorting to long range efforts.

MK Etancheite were awarded a penalty five minutes to the end of the first half to level the scoreline. But Daniel Akpeyi saved Kabangu Kadiama kick to the relieve of the home fans.

Salami doubled the lead in the 80th minute with a magical goal.

He controlled a pass from Oghenekaro Etebo, moved into space and fired past the hapless goalkeeper.

But Mombo Lwamba reduced the tally for the visitors in the 85th minute to give them hope going into the second leg at the Stade des Martyrs on May 2.
